Is the 08 presidential race exposing more failings in the US. electoral system than any other?

I think every election has shown that our system is not perfect and that it should be more fluid to allow for changes that arise. Such as this election and the fact that the primaries are being dragged out. Lets just have them on one day and be done with it.
