Should the Royal Family support Fergie?

I'm American so I've watched Sarah Ferguson's attempts to make money selling everything from Weight Watchers to kids' books. I didn't expect her to try to "sell" her ex-husband and I'm wondering if the Royal family is obligated to help her for the sake of her daughters? I know she's spent a fortune but her girls are still Royalty. Do you think the Queen should have continued to give Fergie whatever she wanted to prevent her from being such an embarrment and as a Grandmother is the Queen making sure the girls are protected from Fergie's antics?
