How much does a game designer make a year? How bout a game tester?

I'm a High School student and i am trying to figure out my future. I want to make good money to support a future family, but i want to do what i like doing. I love video games, yet i don't think i could create a livable future off that. i have always wanted to be a veterinarian, but it takes too long until you get out of school. I know it pays good money, but i don't think i would be fully happy with it. I love thinking about creating games and designing characters and such, but i dont know how much these people get paid. Do you guys know? I just need help settling my decision, and putting my mind at ease. please help! Thanks! :)
