Short bread cookie question for a newbie! :D?

do I need corn starch or baking powder for short bread cookies? I am making them for christmas and got a recipe from a friend and it never mentioned baking powder or corn starch The recipe she gave was too small so I was looking another up and now its asking for ingrediants I dont have:( do I need it ? and does anyone have a large recipe foir short bread cookies ( I am making them as christmas gifts for about 10 people maybe giving out 15 each ? what do you think I have nice boxes to put them in as well :) * anyways back to teh main question haha can some one give me a nice short bread recipe enough for maybe 50 cookies at a time ?
